frequently asked questions

What is Veterinary Medical Manipulation?

Veterinary Medical Manipulation, or VMM, is a manual therapy that uses quick hands-on targeted manual palpation to detect and correct joint restrictions and restore normal range of motions, improved circulation, neurologic function and immune system function.

It differs from VOM in that it VMM relies on the practitioner’s hands to pinpoint those stressors using quick and targeted adjustments for an effective healing outcome.

What is Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation?

Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation, better known as VOM, is non-surgical, technique that the practitioner uses to gently treat spinal and lameness issues caused by subluxations and malalignments.

The practitioner uses a hand-held activator as well. VOM opens up those areas along the spinous process, reconnecting blocked points and malalignments, for a soothing, healing outcome.

How is Veterinary Medical Manipulation performed?

Veterinary Medical Manipulation, or VMM, is a manual therapy that uses quick hands-on targeted manual palpations to detect and correct joint restrictions and restore normal range of motions, improved circulation, neurologic function and immune system function.

Our doctors will use their hands to identify areas of restriction in your pet. Then, a precise thrust on those anatomical structures is applied. This treatment can restore normal motion thus removing neurological blockages. When the nerves can efficiently communicate with other structures in the body, they will begin to heal. Pain diminishes and mobility is restored. Most animals enjoy their treatment.

What Conditions Can Be Treated With Veterinary Medical Manipulation?

Spinal manipulation can be used to treat a wide variety of issues of the neck and back. We can treat older, stiff animals, dogs with intervertebral disc disease, animals with vague, hard-to-diagnose lameness, and chronic musculoskeletal problems including arthritis. This therapy is also not limited to injured and sick pets as it is beneficial to older pets, athletic animals, and working animals as well.

What Conditions Can Be Treated With Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation?

This gentle treatment can be used for many conditions, including lameness/paralysis, IV disk disease, neck issues/Wobbler’s Disease, arthritis, lower back issues, and hip dysplasia.
