Homeopathy is a philosophy of medicine dating back to eighteenth-century Germany. It has since spread to Europe, India, Australia, South America, the United States, and Canada. The underlying basis of homeopathy is that ‘like cures like’ or that a substance that is capable, in toxic doses, of producing certain symptoms is also capable, in lower (safe) doses, of curing the same symptoms.

The founder of modern homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann, speculated that homeopathic medicine has a temporary acute effect. As the body works to neutralize this effect, similar symptoms (regardless of cause) are neutralized or eliminated. Early homeopaths worked to find the minimum dose that was still therapeutic. The homeopathic formulas used on humans are the same homeopathics used for pets.

Homotoxicology is a therapeutic branch of homeopathy, enabling deep cleaning of the body tissues, removing toxins, disease processes and degenerative debris, leaving the tissues clean and able to function as intended. Homotoxicology was originally formulated by Dr. Hans Heurich Reckeweg in Germany. The concept was inspired by homeopathy, but Reckeweg attributed diseases to the accumulation of internal and external toxins in the body. These are known as ‘homotoxins.’ So homotoxicology remedies include two, three or more homeopathics in one remedy.

Symptoms arise because of the body’s innate defense mechanism responding to these toxins. A current example of the concept ‘like cures like’ would be the use of vaccines and allergy injections to stimulate the immune system. Homotoxicology therapy can be given to pets in various forms including orally or by injection.
