Dr. Regina Downey, DVM, CVA, CVMMP

Dr. Regina Downey hails from the beautiful Jersey Shore. She graduated from the University of Georgia-Athens College of Agriculture in 1979 summa cum laude and the University of Georgia-Athens College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983, Phi Kappa Phi, in the top 5 percent of her class.

She began her veterinary career at a rural practice in Virginia in 1983 and quickly established herself as a skilled surgeon and diagnostician. Several years later she matriculated to Massachusetts and soon after working for a variety of practices opened her own practice in 1990, Coastal Animal Clinic in Salisbury, Massachusetts. Dr. Downey was one of the first volunteer veterinarians with the Merrimac River Feline Rescue Society (MRFRS) more than 25 years ago, a relationship that continues today. For 10 years the organization called the second floor of Coastal Animal Clinic home.

Once settled in her own practice Dr. Downey began to offer an integrative approach to treating patients particularly those whose seasonal allergies. She developed a working relationship with Dr. Roger De Haan, a holistic veterinarian for more than 25 years and published author, who later became her mentor and good friend.

Dr. Downey is a member of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association (NHVMA), Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Alpha Zeta Agricultural Honor Fraternity, the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), the New Hampshire Quarter Horse Association (NHQHA) and treasurer of the newly formed Western Dressage Association of Massachusetts. Dr. Downey holds licensure in New Hampshire, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia.

She is a past lecturer (Green Decade Coalition in Newton, MA), guest on Internet talk radio (wsRadio.com) and certified in BICOM bioresonance traveling throughout the U.S. training veterinarians on its use.

Dr. Downey is certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Applied Kinesiology, Tui Na, a Chinese deep tissue massage, Acupuncture, and NAET, an allergy elimination treatment. She provides an integrative approach to wellness for her patients offering both traditional and holistic approaches. BICOM Therapy, an advanced technology that uses magnetic resonance as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool used in treatment of allergies, Lyme Disease and other chronic diseases. In addition she provides spinal adjustment using Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM), flower remedies, nutritional counseling, glandular support, classical homeopathy, and homotoxicology.
